My name is Joseph C. Mastroianni. I was born In Boston Massachusetts on September 24, 1941. I am a citizen of the United States of America. I am not affiliated with a political party. I've always been sort of a devils advocate, don't' ask me why. That combination puts me in a position where I'm often discussing a view apposed by many of my friends and family. My cousin, Chris DeSalvo and I were brought up in a great small town in Massachusetts called Woburn. We were instilled with values passed on to us by our grandparents, who migrated to America from Italy . Pugsy and my family don't give a care what color you are. We don't care what religion you practice, if any. We don't care if you want an abortion or not, long as you're a woman. That's only out of concern for your health. For the past two years, he and I have been discussing political issues by email. Because of my propensity, he has forced me to defend either side, of many issues. In doing so, we have found that it is difficult to find common ground. That is until we decided loyalty to our Country and our Constitution should trump all other considerations. It is difficult to do, so hard that sometimes I'm just glad Pugsy can't throw a Genoa salami at me over the Internet.
There has also been a lot of whining, frustration, and bickering between us about the unsustainable direction in which our representatives of both political party's are taking tour country. According to the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution, it is us; the people, who control the government, not the other way around. Somehow, our representatives have turned the table on us. We have paying too much attention to the separation of powers between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government, and not enough attention to how we, all Americans, are being separated from our power.
Our inalienable rights do not come from the government. Whether you believe they came from God, or not, we were born with them. They are protected by the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and our "Constitution."
Pugsy and I disagree on many issues. There is one thing we do agree on. Our government is out of control. It is time for the people of this country to put our representatives on notice. There is no more continuing to wait for a right time. We are running out of time. The right time, is when we start to do it, now, in this moment of time. Pugsy knows well my frustration. I'm willing to bet he's also glad the Internet does not permit me to put a fist full of hot Italian peperoncino in his meatball sandwich. Last week I wined to Pugsy that I was sick and tired of whining. It was Zinfandel, Finally, what a great word, finally I'm going to do something about it. He said, Cuz, that's what he calls me, among other things, go for it. Tell me what I can do to help. So I started this project. The frustration is gone. It feels like a one hundred pound calzone of Locatelli Pecorino cheese was lifted from my shoulders.
As a citizen of the United States, it is my right, my duty and most important, my responsibility to put our representatives on notice. It is us, the people who control our government not they. If you agree with me, are eighteen years or older and a citizen of the United States of America, please sign THE Petition.
You know what Cuz? Maybe we will live to see it happen. It will happen. There is no stopping it now. It's just a matter of time. Write those words on a piece of paper; it's just a matter of time. Leave it for your grandchildren to read. Get a nice piece of paper. Don't buy that cheap crap.
